One Room Challenge Week 1 || Did Someone Say Challenge...

Living Room One Room Challenge ORC

I am so excited to be participating in the Better Homes and Gardens Fall 2020 One Room Challenge as a guest participant! Currently in its eighteenth season, the ORC is a widely anticipated biannual event that takes place every April and October. This year, the stars aligned in my favor for me to participate and I am so ready!

In the age of quarantine, home has never been more important. While we may not have control over what’s going on outside, inside we can create and curate spaces that makes us feel calm, creative, and reflect our personality. With that said, I’m so excited to share that my ORC project is… THE LIVING ROOM! For almost a year now, I’ve felt the need to refresh this space, so this challenge/motivation couldn’t have come at a better time. My living space in particular serves as a break from the stresses of daily life — it’s where I go to unwind, be lazy and it's where my peeps gather and it stimulates conversation.

I’ve created this mood board (or idea board) as a sneak peek that summarizes the overall vibe I hope to portray in the space. It’s filled with items that I currently own as well as a few items that I plan to acquire for this project.

Over the course of the next six weeks, I’ll be restyling and renovating my living space by experimenting with the ways in which a layout, color or a piece of furniture/decor can completely alter a space.

After many moons of being in a style rut, I felt I needed a restart. Your taste changes over the years, so it’s always a good idea to tinker about your home and make small adjustments to enhance and experiment with your aesthetics. I am also a firm believer in living in your space before making major design decisions. Since I’ve had the chance to live in my home, I know what works and what’s needed. With that said, I do not want to wipe the slate clean… Instead, I want to use some decor tweaks that will make a significant visual transformation. I plan to do a lot shopping within my own home on the grounds that you don’t need to spend a fortune to make small improvements in your abode.

Check back next week as I share my to do list for this 6-week restyle. There will be a weekly blog post chronicling the progress. If you don’t already, be sure to follow me on Instagram! I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes updates in my IG stories and of course, you are welcomed to see what I’m obsessing over on my Pinterest page.
